I wish there were some laws covering "exempt employees". In my last job, there was an expectation of 12 hour days, 7 days a week, all leave (including already paid for holidays and conferences) were canceled and there was NO compensation (not even comp time).
Most job protections are for hourly not salaried employees and there are companies that take advantage of that. (Btw, we had 5 programmers all on the same team quit within 3 months of each other because of the situation so it wasn't all in my head).
