It used to be that the only time you needed your drivers license is when you were driving. Governments have pushed it further and further to the point where a cop can ask you for your government issued ID at any time. Personally, I still think it is a constitutional violation. The Supreme Court has disagreed in a power grab for government. This law goes even further in that direction and I think it is stupid just like I think it is wrong to require people to carry papers to prove anything when they aren't committing a crime.
