It is...it is a violation of the 4th and 5th amendment.  You are only
required to show your id when you are driving.  You should refuse to show it
otherwise.

It used to be that the only time you needed your drivers license is
when you were driving. Governments have pushed it further and further
to the point where a cop can ask you for your government issued ID at
any time. Personally, I still think it is a constitutional violation.
The Supreme Court has disagreed in a power grab for government. This
law goes even further in that direction and I think it is stupid just
like I think it is wrong to require people to carry papers to prove
anything when they aren't committing a crime.
