One of the candidates for Governor is supporting a GDOT plan for a
road connect 400 with 675. It would be a tunnel under certain
well-to-do neighborhoods and a surface road once it gets to more
colorful parts of town who are less likely to be able to defend
themselves. Not surprisingly, none of the neighborhoods along the way
support it, including the neighborhoods that successfully beat the
last road years ago.

Public transit continues to get lukewarm support, people keep moving
farther and farther out into the burbs while complaining about the
traffic problem they just created by moving to the burbs.

The Beltline project is still moving along, and the part of the
Beltline that goes directly behind my place should be a gravel(ish)
walking and biking trail any day now - connecting all the way through
to Piedmont park. One of the Beltline projects closest to me will
become the only skatepark in Atlanta and was just given a grant of
$25K by Tony Hawk's foundation to get it going.
