"I am in favor of everyone paying their fair share." Therein lies the problem. What's fair? Isn't that how Prop 13 got started? Tax assessors where giving their cronies bonus rates while sticking it to others. People got fed up and, voila, Prop 13.

CA probably won't be making road improvements for a long time. NC used to have decent roads, but they are going to pot (no pun intended given how the thread started). The state raids the highway fund every year to fund other things. "In CA doesn't that mean you have a toothache?"
