To me, this is a bullshit excuse. The game is already played differently on the Wold Cup scale than it is in any 'grassroots level'. As Robert pointed out American Football, Baseball and Hockey (not sure about basketball) all use instant replay at the professional level but not at other levels (college, high school, etc). To me, this adds to the integrity of the game and does not detract form it. Those that govern the leagues realize that, at times, the officials get a call wrong, and they use technology to try and get it right. Are these systems perfect? far from it, but its better than the alternative. Basketball (NBA) is played with 5 players on each side on a much smaller playing surface and they have 2 referees on the court. Hockey (NHL) is played with 6 players on each side on a much smaller playing surface and they have 2 referees on the ice. Baseball (MLB) is played with no more than 13 players on the filed at one time and they have 4 umpires on the field. Football (NFL) is played with as many players as soccer, on a slightly smaller field and they have 7 officials on the field. Soccer, with its huge ass playing surface has 1. Its not hard to imagine how/why so many bad calls occur. -- Scott Stroz --------------- You can make things happen, you can watch things happen or you can wonder what the f*&k happened. - Cpt.
