There are really only two things to do at Epcot.. eat or shop within the
different culture areas. When I went in 2003, there was about three rides.
When I was done, I felt like I paid admission to an overpriced mall. Why
would I have to pay $50+ for that privilege.

At Disneyland, you have plenty of rides and attractions to keep you busy.
Yes, you still have to pay for food and shopping, But, that is not the
primary reason why you go to Disneyland. IMO, the main reason you go to
Epcot is to try the foods for each area and shopping.

And how, exactly, would they distinguish between those who just want to shop
and those who are there to utilize the other facilities of the park?  Disney
has lots of other places to eat and shop (including most of their resorts,
Downtown Disney, etc.).  If you want to go into the park, expect to pay for
a ticket.  I don't see how that's a rip off.
