But by using the current definitions that filter programs use, there are a lot of materials in libraries that would be removed from the shelves. Consider such books on artworks by Goya, Renoir, Rembrant, Klee etc. How about practically any advise book on childrearing, women's health, reproduction etc. All of these would be removed. Do you want to withdraw your taxes then if you object to equal access? I have no objection to that. But at the same time you should have to pay for the privilege of using the library. You cannot have it both ways. In order for all to use the thing, all end up paying for it. What if all the machines > are tied up > with porno surfers while others can't do legitimate research? > What if my kid is walking by a machine that has porn on the screen? > And if all the machines were taken up by people looking up the definition of free speech (yes the loc.gov site was blocked by net nanny) or the right to privacy, or the role of priests in the most recent abuse scandal. The fact is that what the law tried to do was paint with a very broad brush. It ended up trying to regulate free speech. That's considered unconstitutional. Ergo end of story. > I'm sorry, but my taxes should not be used for this nonsense. Lets see by your logic all paper should be banned from libraries because some paper is used to print pornographic pictures. Why should your taxes should not be used for this nonsense. larry -- Larry C.
