That last thing reminds me of a joke from the Borscht Belt...it's a bit non-PC so I'll edit it a bit:
A ventriloquist is on stage doing his act. Part of his act is the dummy making remaks about (blank)ish people and saying that they are very stupid. He goes on and on making (blank)ish jokes. Finally, a man in the audience jumps and and yells "Hey, I'm (blank)ish and I find these jokes highly offensive!" The ventriloquist then tries to explain that the jokes are all in fun but before he can finish, the man in the audience interrupts him and says "Hey, I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the little guy!"
