Wouldn't telling a racist joke still make one a racist? -----Original Message----- From: Chris Stoner [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2011 9:16 AM To: cf-community Subject: Re: Rush isn't really a racist douchebag, really!
*Caveat*: I don't care for Rush Limbaugh. I neither like him, hate him nor listen to him. I do not set my moral compass in agreement nor opposition to his, nor do I have any great understanding of his viewpoint other then it's apparently quite conservative and presented in a politico-shock-entertainment fashion. ....now to the point... The line between insensitivity or crudeness and (pick your flavor of)-ism is often times only divided by interpretation, which is usually the result of the receiver's own prejudices. In this situation, the difference between racism and a crude play on words meant to be humorous, is heavily weighted by the fact that many people on this board despise Rush Limbaugh's shtick (if not him directly) and are inherently predisposed to interpret the negative in everything he says. That is not to say that I think Rush is or is not a racist, I don't know the man. I just don't think that him telling a crude joke is proof either way. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:341686 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
