Romantic kidding aside, Vivec makes a good point. Business, like life, is
about relationships. I've failed as much as I've succeeded, and where I
have succeeded, I've done so because of my personal and professional
relationships. Our personal success depends on not just all the people
around us, but an endless number of people in society, most of whom we will
never personally meet, who handle everything from the mundane to the
extraordinary. I have a feeling that your entry level contact's attitudes
about you will be shaped for a long time to come by this interaction, so
think carefully about how you handle it. Lunch would be more appropriate
than dinner, and maybe you could suggest an additional person come along to
make it clear that it isn't a date.
