Yes, to use a word. But, not just any word, a word that represents a loving dedication to one another. A word that says, I want this person in my life for the rest of my life. A word that is supposed to demonstrate a life long commitment to each other. Funny, Kim Kardashian say say she got 'married' even though it only lasted a month, but a gay couple who have been together for decades, cannot. That is what I and others are saying. > > > > > It has a different meaning. Rights aren't based on a word. You said civil unions were equal, but marriage has a different meaning (maybe I misunderstood). If civil unions are 'equal' how can they have a different meaning from 'marriage' Help me understand. > > > I realize there are two sides to this discussion (more than 2 probably). > > > > > But you don't respect the other side. I think what really needs to happen is the government needs to get out of the 'marriage' business. 'Marriage' should be left up to religious institutions. If you want to be 'married' in the eyes of the government - regardless of whether or not you are homosexual or heterosexual - you need to go through a separate process and EVERY couple that does would use the same label. > > > > You keep dodging the question.
