Part of the issue is that Federal and State laws reference the word
"Marriage" or "Married" in the more than 1,600 statues that confer benefits
and responsibilities to couples who are allowed to legally marry.

What's more realistic, allowing everyone to use the word "Marriage" or
"Married" thus enabling those people who are entitled to those benefits to
get them? Or expecting the Federal and State governments to go through all
the statutes and substitute another word?

You keep saying people are hung up on NOT being able to use a word, when you
are hung up about being able to use a word.

Its just a word, Sam. Why can't homosexual couples use it to legally define
their relationship?
