What is scary about it? IF there is a state of martial law declared the military can do just that.
But I don't see why letting the military ACT as law enforcement at times is scary besides the fact they are trained as soldiers and not law enforcement, unless they only used MP's or SP's which I doubt. Its not saying using the military in police actions would mean its the same as martial law where you loose all your rights and guarantees. I'm sure you would still have the same protections and hell if they screw up you can sue the army ;) well you could try.
