to help narrow down the issue, I put the pdfs in question on another server,
IIS and CF Server Pro 5 and I could not reproduce the error. Which again
leads me back to Apache...

I found a sentence on the Apache site in reference to the 2.0.40 release,
saying "Solved reports of .pdf byterange failures on Win32 alone." Might
this be the issue I am btting up against?
