Hmm... We have the same problem on our non-CF-Apache-on-Linux server. It happens with enough frequency that our help desk has had a constant open record for it for some time.
The interesting thing is that if they click to view the PDF in the browser, the person's broswer locks up. If they right-click download the file then open it directly, it opens fine. I've sporadically looked around at Adobe's site, but never found anything. I never even considered that it could be Apache.
