I think you guys are missing one point. You see the archives? You can subscribe to a
list by archives only and post to that list from the archives as well. So if people
don't want to be subscribed by email, all they have to do is subscribe by archives
only, and they can read that list and respond anytime they want.

I realize the HoF system of two major lists (CF-Talk and CF-Community) is not perfect.
But it's an attempt to balance the interests of two main groups who work in ColdFusion:
1. Those who are only interested in the lists for technical
answers/solutions/knowledge and don't want outside topics
2. Those who enjoy "hanging out" with other ColdFusion programmers as well.

I have not yet seen another system that does the job as well, but I'm always open to
suggestions on how we can improve what we've got.

Nor was this an attempt to disenfranchise Christian ColdFusion programmers. We have
(and we do) ask people to move their other OT posts to CF-Community. But Michael and I
are not the list police. We cannot keep an eye on every post 24-7. We rely on the
community (to a great extent) to take responsibility for what they post and post it in
the right place. Sometimes we miss an OT post, or don't respond to it and it dies down
of its own accord. I think that's a lot better than us being some kind of rigid
thought police. When we do catch a thread, and ask for it to be moved (and it's not),
then we have no choice but to ban it.
