I think that free and open trade is a perfectly good reason to go to war.

You are giving a lot of credit to the Bush administration for manipulating
the nations of the middle east in this way. Brilliant. Machiavelli would be
proud.

Let me ask you this. Just how much control do you think we have in the
middle east? Our biggest ally, the Israelis, have attacked us in the past
when they thought we were butting in. They have killed Americans. And would
again if they saw it to be in their best interest. Not to mention the murder
of Boll. And their involved spy network here in the US which was only
uncovered after the Sept 11 attacks when the Al Qaeda network was taken
apart. We don't have the control you think we have. The only reason the
Saudis tolerate us is because it's in their best interest.

As an aside, consider the Six Day War. While Israel was attacking the USS
Liberty (for which there exists enough evidence to establish it as
deliberate), killing 34 Americans in 1967, we were mobilizing both tactical
and strategic forces to go to the defense of Israel in the face of the
Soviet's mobilization to attack it.

I think my job is done here. I've gotten the people who initially scoffed to
at least admit that the situation has something to do with the oil :)

To your comment. I know it makes you sound good to say that our only reason
in kuwait was to save innocent lives, but I shouldn't even have to argue
that one. The only people in Kuwait that like Americans are the elite few
that are making money from our protection, and even they laugh at us at the
end of the day. We don't care about them either really, the only reason
we're there is to protect our cheap oil source and to harbor a level of
chaos in that region which only puts us in more control of it.

Conspiracy rag? This isn't a conspiracy, it's obvious. You're just refusing
to look at the inconvenient truth. It's even hard for me to do it,
especially with all the dirty looks/sighs I get when I bring it up. I can
even hear it in your guy's emails! heh.

Anyway, been nice chattin. Gotta catch a train! Talk tomorrow.
