Robert,

In my personal experience the several times I've done WW (life is a journey, 
and I took rest stops <g>), there was a rapid loss the first couple of 
weeks, then it settled down to approx. 1.5 to 2 pounds per week average.

Two important tips that a lot of people agreed at the meetings helped:
(1) drink the water
(2) if you "binge", don't quit - just say "oh, well" and resume WW.
I did stuff like "hey, I really want to scarf down pizza" or "the Chinese 
buffet is calling out to me" periodically. Or donuts at the staff meeting. 
As long as these were "episodic" rather than "chronic", it was ok. At worst, 
slowed me down a bit. Plus, you have the option of going to the lower end of 
the "points" range for a while to make up for it.
