Yeah I can't imagine that it would be easy to build something that massive
and stick with in 1 foot. I mean the tolerances for settling and
temperature expansion and contraction would have to be more than a foot
right? But then again if its just a spire at the top they could always add
a little or trim it as needed. Maybe have the spire on something
mechanical, like an electric antenna on your car. The machine makes sure
it's always the right height :)

And it still wont be the tallest structure

"Two finalists were selected this month, each featuring buildings that would
dwarf Malaysia's 1,483-foot Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest in the world.
A small number of telecommunications towers would still stand taller than
the Libeskind spire. "

Telecomm towers would still be higher, the nice thing about the trade center
and even the petronas towers is they have people in them and office space
they are buildings with people not just a spire. Kinda a cop out to me but
oh well its neat that it will be 1776 feet and all. But with our luck
someone will screw up and it will be a few feet too tall or too short :)

Looks pretty kewl.

With the spires it will be the largest structure in the world. I am glad
they decided to go that way, rather than shorter and "safer".
