You know, I've lived on Staten Island for 18 years (7 in Qns.) and only
recently did I get stuck in traffic on the VN just under the towers. I
opened my sunroof and looked up at them. My wife and I both said at the
same time:

"Damn."

They're huge.

Nope, it's a _big_ bridge...

(from http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/bandt/html/veraz.htm)

When it opened in 1964, the Verrazano Narrows Bridge was the world's longest
suspension span. Today, its length is surpassed only by the Humber Bridge in
England.... Its monumental 693 foot high towers are 1 5/8 inches farther
apart at their tops than at their bases because the 4,260 foot distance
between them made it necessary to compensate for the earth's curvature...

--> omg the verrazano bridge is that the one that is HORRIBLE and tiny
and
--> the
--> worst designed bridge in history or is that the gothos bridge. I
always
--> confuse the two but that little bridge whoever made it should just
be
--> shot.
--> LOL my gf called me and was like ok you're going to take this bridge
but
--> its
--> really tiny so be careful and i was like oh thats fine it cant be
that
--> bad.
--> But wow 1 inch from walls and traffic on both sides thats
concentration
--> it
--> takes on that bridge ;)

the
