Now, wait. I've listened to that composition a number of times. Yeah, the
"Graduation Bit" makes me cringe, but there's a lot more to the song that I
/do/ like.
And I agree that I'm probably not as well informed about classical music as
you are (though you gotta give me credit -- I know a lot more than most 23
year old men). And just because I like Brittney -- er -- pop orchestras
doesn't mean I have /no/ taste. It just means that I like, among other
things, light stuff.
Yes, I like Mozart and Bach. I don't care for most Beethoven (though I
really like Fur Elise). I probably wouldn't know it offhand, but I spent a
long car trip listening to Wagner's Ring Cycle (there's no way I can spell
it in German) and remember thinking it was pretty cool, despite the fact
that I usually don't like opera.
But the real point is that we're talking about choices for a guy who appears
to be just getting into classical, and so isn't the obvious place to start
the common, easy-to-find, easy-to-like stuff you seem to be knocking?

: Pomp and Circumstance = spree 'o death at a graduation ceremony.

: Come on guys. The "pops" are the classical equivalent of Brittney.
