Preach on Sister Dana! I've been in the industry and online for many
years and I know how some AOLers are and how crappy their software can
be. When 5.0 came out I was going bench work and I hated AOL. Why? 5.0
took over all network settings and if you uninstalled it? Don't even
ask.

I have a rant saved somewhere about AOL on an old blogg I used to run.
It focused really on what AOL did for the internet as far as bringing
people online who never would have (or never should have) thought about
being on the web.

(rant)

The AOL browser *is* wonky, and I speak as a former AOL tech support
person. The "gateway" to the internet was constantly going down (1996?)
and the company attitude was more or less who needs the internet when
they have our content. AOL users are also frequently incredibly
defensive. You tell them that they can get better service for less and
they say but I like to IM... you tell them they don't need AOL for that
and they say you are bashing, poor widdle AOL....

(end rant)
