Oh I know just what you mean. And normally when you call AOL (no
offence, I know you worked there) most of the techs just say "reinstall
AOL" which sometimes adds a duplicate AOL adapter which makes matters
worse.

When I was on AOL (back in the 2.0/3.0 days) I only had to contact
support twice. One time I called because I had a cheap modem and needed
the modem string for it so I could dial in. I was told to uninstall AOL.
The other time was when they had a Netscape version that would work with
AOL. You could find it by using keyword "Netscape". I had to reinstall
it one day but could not find any reference to Netscape. Their online
support then told me that they never offered Netscape. This was around
the time that they added IE to the software. Veddy Interstink.

well see if you use AOL at all it installs the AOL adapter. On some
machines -- I never did understand why only some -- the mere presence of
the AOL adapter trashes TCP/IP. Wich can be fixed in 20 minutes if you
know how but is endless with a newbie that thinks it is easier to just
use AOL.

Anyway, they are thinking that the alternates are not reliable because
the TCP/IP keeps going down, and they refuse to believe AOL might be a
cause of this. That's bashing.
