Hm...but that's a man. And, I wouldn't call giving birth a "high-trauma
event." A car-crash I'd call a high-trauma event, but not birth.
Let's compare birth and fleshhooks:
Both are done willingly
Both are painful
Both cause transcendant states of being
Both have a gradual buildup of pressure to a localized area of the body

Now, granted, fleshhooks are timed by the participant, while birth is timed
by the baby. And, birth involves more physical exertion at the end, while
suspension would ideally have very little physical exertion at the end
(assuming you're going for a calm/still suspension, anyway).

I'm also coming at this from a somewhat non-traditional viewpoint of
labor/birth - one in which experiencing the pain is an integral part of the
whole experience (which isn't your typical Western view of birth anymore).

So, point being, I'd still like to hear from a woman who's done both.
