1. He supported our enemies with money and training.

2. He attempted to kill a former president

3. His troops routinely engaged our aircraft in the no fly zones.

All of these add up to an attack on the U.S. On our shores, no, but then
again neither did Germany, Panama, Haiti, or Somalia.

Oh, Tim, please don't tell me you went there. You are a smart guy... remind
me, when was it that Saddam attacked the United States? I foggily remember
an attack on Kuwait, and I remember something about Iran, but for the life
of me I cannot recall when we had the Iraqi navy upon our shores and their
air force in our skies.

Please don't play the "he was about to attack" or "he could attack at any
time" cards, they don't do well here. Fact is, no matter how ruthless and
evil Saddam is, he is also very smart. I highly doubt that he would have had
the stones to directly attack the US, he knew the consequences. Unlike the
freaks in Al-Qaeda and other fundamentalist groups, I doubt that Saddam was
ready to die for any cause. You see, his cause was simply himself and his
power. People like that are too attached to themselves to risk their own
lives. So don't try to tell me that he was on the verge of an attack on the
United States.
