It's not just a matter of where the profit goes.

There's a jobs multiplier effect.
When jobs are created, people need housing, clothing, food, services, etc. etc.
If the jobs are in the U.S., those ancillary purchases are largely in the U.S.

But when jobs are shipped overseas, there is a substantially larger negative effect on the economy than just the salary or the profit.
