No, its an urban legend. They will however take steps to keep your body
"alive" so that the organs can be harvested. Say you arrive in the ER
because of head trauma from an auto accident. If you have obvious brain
damage (grey matter visable, no EEG activity, etc) then they will keep
your body breathing using a machine until family is contacted and
consent given.


Medically, a Dr. must do everything possible to help you recover. If
they just shrug their shoulders and say "oh well", they are setting
themselves up for a HUGE lawsuit and removal of their lisence.

Wonder if that's true.

Of course, this is different from a DNR in a veggie case, but still
scary.
