1. If the user does not have a JVM installed, they will open an email that prompts them to download something. (instant delete for me)
2. The use of java to make a "pretty" snow scene would annoy the HELL out of me (instant click on REMOVE, followed by delete). If the Marketing droids MUST have an animated gizmo, push for flash, as the user probably has it already.
3. What kind of size are you looking at for the email, seems that it would be bloated.

Personally, if it _has_ to be an HTML mail, I would use a static image rather than the animation.

Other than the applet, the mail itself is nice and clean, not annoying or offensive.

But you really need to NOT have the applet.
