I brought up this same point before.

The response was that ASP.net , PHP, Perl etc. are free. So you don't
need to pay anything to get started developing in the first place.
Before Bluedragon Coldfusion has always been a "For Pay" system.

No one wants to give away their code so other people can use it in
commercial applications, and when people do create useful widgets they
usually expect payment for it as well.

THere is also no "Site creation" tools like those available for PHP
(e.g. PHP Nuke).

To look at this another way, why haven't you made your bulletin boards,
("I've written 'em, used 'em and abused 'em") available?

Ok, here is a good questions for the cf folks....
Why is it that I can find excellent free ASP.Net, ASP, PHP, BBOARDS out
on
the net.
When I look for one in CF all I find is dittkus? I mean it's not a big
deal
as I've written 'em, used 'em and abused 'em but why is it that the
majority
of CF developers don't develop for the enjoyment of developing but
always
want to try to get a buck out of it?
If the answer is to make money then why are there so many free ones in
other
languages that are without a doubt excellent and full-featured?

The few free Bboards I have seen for CF suck harder than a ... hmm
better
not go on with that thought.
