CF has no hobbyist angle, nor any real reward for starting such a
project. It's not like you get the gratitude of knowing some school
somewhere may install your software because it is free, because the
platform costs money anyway...a free piece of CF software is going to
leeched by some dev, stuck on some server for some client for
rock-bottom prices and that's it. The other guys gets the money, you
get jack other than get even more emails about bugs :).

It's not like phpBB couldn't be ported to CF really easily (even
easier if CF supported basic stuff like overloading), but why bother?
You aren't going to get any kickbacks from MM. Just install PHP...
