I think it's the fact that those other programs are free.

The only free CFML solution is Bluedragon which hasn't been arund long
enough or pushed hard enough to make a serious impression.

BEfore bluedragon there realyl wasn't a way to start a good opensource
group around any projects. Those usually perform best to create free
applications when the application server itself is free and easily
available.

We'll see how Bluedragon develops and if they get a strong community
going around it. If that happens, then I think we'll see more group
efforts for things like Bulletin Boards and site creators etc. etc. :-)

That's easy, it sucks!
It was just a quick one to get posts started. I think what I am
referring to
is the more group-based free projects as well. The ones where several
people
tackle pieces to make a more robust product in a quicker time span than
can
be done by one person coding on the evenings and weekends.
Personally I think it is exposure. The .NET/PHP communities seem more
"exposed" than the CF one does based on my observations. I've been using
the
product since way back in version 1.0 when it was still using those dbm
page
extensions so I'm not just basing that off of 2-3 years of casual
observation.
It's like the MAC thing to me. The Mac is a great platform. I used to
own
one in fact but with only a 10% or less market share I guess it just
doesn't
pay for the masses. Maybe that's the way it is with cf.
Dunno, just wondering what others think.
