Really though, all of this is knee jerk reactionism. The fingerprinting, the
counter fingerprinting, the anger on both sides. And both sides are going to
have to deal with it because the new passport format will be required to
include biometric information like fingerprints encoded as a bar code. So
Americans are going to be fingerprinted before they even leave the US.
