Me: It has differed in each country, in Australia the market share is as
follows. Xbox 44%, PS2 51% and Gamecube 5%. Source of this information is
reliable and in print. Not bad for a console that has only been out in this
country for just under 2 years compared to PS2 for nearly 5.
Ok, so they good market share in ONE country. The Xbox was/is a total,
complete flop in Japan. And Japan's population is 130 mil versus 19 mil in
Australia. You have a very small population.
You: The phantom us using some soon to be end of life parts.
Me: The PS2, Xbox and the PS1 are the same. These machines can not be
upgraded, unless you buy the next generation machine.
What does this have to do with anything?
The next Generation 64bit PC will not run all PC games, it will not be 100%
backward compatible so does that mean I should not buy it because I use my
software, I will be forced to buy new versions of Photoshop and Windows XP
(to get the benefit of the speed) again you open your mouth before thinking.
Phil mentioned that IF the Phantom could play ALL PC games, and I said that
it couldn't. So we're in agreement.
Oh I forgot you are a hacker who gets things for nothing anyway, so you
don't spend this extra money on updating and moving forward.
I am? Where did I say that? Every piece of software I buy is fully legit.
Heck, I just spent $1500US on MSDN Pro.
Lets see you also have some other facts I should bring forward:-
You: Fact - The phantom is based on PC Technology.
Me: The phantom is going to be based on a set of standards, like EIDE, PCI,
AGP the same as Apple started to move towards. PC stands for personal
computer, so by this my XBox is a personal computer as it uses PC technology
to play Xbox games.
No, the XBox is a console that happens to use PC-like technology. In fact
though, the processor that's in the Xbox is proprietary to the Xbox, as is
the nVidia graphics chip. So we're in agreement here too - I said it was
BASED on PC tech, not that it used EXACTLY PC tech.
You: The phantom is hella expensive relative to other consoles.
Me: Let me see the price of the PS1 was very expensive when it came out, the
PS2 and Xbox also was very expensive when they were released and dropped as
time went on as the demand got higher. The phantom will more than likely
follow, the PS3 and Xbox 2 will be around the same price the phantom will be
when they get released too. WHAT the HELL is your point here.
You didn't disprove my fact.
You: A phantom owner would have to rebuy their games.
Me: Well guess what so do Xbox owners if they wanted too I chose not too.
Except Lord of the Rings; return of the king I have that on both the xbox
and PC well technically I bought it for my girlfriend on the PC who also
bought it for me on the xbox.
You didn't disprove my fact.
You: The phantom is being released by a company with no track record, well
Sony had no track record in consoles either. 3DO hate to mention this also
had no track record, but had an dodgy product now they develop software for
other consoles and platforms.
Sony has a highly recognizable brand name, along with tons of money to
support their initiative into the console market. What does Infinium have?
As for 3D0, they went bankrupt. Their assets were sold a few weeks ago.
