I've seen enough of it and know enough about history to say that.
Just watch TV and you'll see just about the entire movie in one piece or another

Actually, the pope did NOT say that. Read up and you'll see that the vadican
denied such a statement. Add to this the fact that Gibson is NOT Catholic
and you see a rumor/marketing ploy rather than truth.
As for scholars, there are just as many who say the exact opposite.
