against gay marriages is because of the religious aspect. Well, just
seperate the whole thing.
1. Religious marriage - depends on religion and religious
preference/tollerence (you will not see an orthodox gay marriage)
2. civil unions - defines that two people are joined together and will be
living/paying taxes/whatever together. If two guys want to say that they're
in a committed relationship, then no prob. (what they do in the privacy of
their home is not my business just as what I do is not theirs)
3. raising children - whatever benefits exists for having/raising kids which
is seperate from the whole marriage thing.
Personally, my wedding had the religious part on the 28th of June and the
civil part (due to paperwork) on the 29th. Does it really matter much to me?
Not really. Does it matter much that two men or women want to live together
as spouse and spouse? Not really on a civil level. On a religious, that's
another story, but that doesn't matter here.
Bottom line is that it's all BS and truth be told, there will be no
amendment for this.
