Ian,

It is kind of like my fiancé... She is a teacher and the school expects them
to buy a certain amount of supplies since the school budgets are so low. For
instance, she has to buy construction paper, markers, stencils, etc out of
her own salary, which is a crock of shit considering teachers already get
paid shit for one for the toughest jobs on! My advice to you is to tell your
wife to put her foot down and say NO, unless they want to compensate her.
Too many employers these days are trying to take advantage of their
employees, it's pretty sad.
