Hi @sethmcg, you are right that missing data is disallowed in coordinate variables, but it is for auxiliary coordinate variables.
The bounds may have missing data where the parent auxiliary coordinates do not (_grid cells with a varying number of cell bounds_ #163). Is it possible for the opposite to occur, i.e. the auxiliary coordinate is missing but the (some of) its bounds are not? -- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
