For the connector thing, I'd check out:
/opt/coldfusionmx/bin/ <-- there's a connector.sh in there somewhere

If not, you'll have to dig up some research on how to invoke wsconfig.jar 
located:
/opt/coldfusionmx/runtime/lib/

I'm not exactly clear what you meant by: "I chose the Apache 1-2 option" 
-- When I installed CFMX on linux via command line, it didn't ask me for 
that option.  It just asked me where I want it installed, etc.  Then 
again... I'm running Apache 1.3.x so... maybe there are differences 
between installs.  I won't know until I attempt to install Apache 2 on my 
linux box... not sure how much pain I want to go through.
