I've got RH Linux 7.2 (kernel 2.4.9-34smp) running on a Dell PowerEdge 4400.
This has two 800mhz Pentium III processors.

1008 MB RAM
517 MB Swap

Here is a snap shot of memory usage at 10:30 this morning:

Free RAM 62.6 MB (I know, this must be terribly low. It's the first time
I've considered memory to be an issue on this machine. I'm new at this and
there are unmentionable political issues preventing proper staffing for
maintaining the Web Server. I'm learning as fast as I can.)

Shared 61.44 KB
Buffer 579.64 MB
Cached 257.43 MB
Total Swap 530.1
Free Swap 522.93

Free Ram + Swap 37%
Used 61%
Buffer 56%
Swap 98% free

The majority of our site is simply using includes. All our DB stuff runs on
(traffic is redirected to) an NT server. We are waiting until CFMX is stable
before we launch our new SQL server and app's. Boy, will I have my hands
full then!

Thanks so much for your input,

David Droddy

Then you're running out of memory David.

What are the machine specs? What kind of app are you running? What DB?
