Read it. Nope. Ditto the technical white paper. These are serious concerns about how this new 'feature' will impact if (when ?!?) it is applied to server products, and they don't seem to have been addressed anywhere. To summerise the main one playing on my mind: 1) Once registered, what happens if there is a DNS or other problem that prevents the deamon phoning home or successfully talking to MM? Will the server be shut down ? 2) Why is the license store written outside the file system ? Is it removed when the product is uninstalled ? If this were to appear in the ColdFusion server[*], I think it would be one of *very few* UNIX applications to phone home in this way (post-install). There is probably a reason why few if any others do it. -- Thomas C Advanced ColdFusion Programmer HANDLE WITH EXTREME CARE: This Email Contains Minute Electrically Charged Particles Moving at Velocities in Excess of Five Hundred Million Miles Per Hour. [*] I except that this hasn't been done, and so it may not be possible to answer, but I think I am safe in saying MM will be heading down the road of sticking activation in everything if this trial with Contribute goes well. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=4 FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
