I always remove it from the JMC, and delete the folder.

No, it should only be running when you need to use it. It's a security
thing, as well as a resource consumer, though not a big one.

It's not a problem that there are multiple. The 3 servers you just
mentioned are the reason. If your CFMX JRun instance is causing the
server to crash, it's more likely that you have a SQL driver issue (make
sure you're up-to-date) or poorly written code (nothing personal :).

This is a great way to do it.

The CFMX 6.1 upgrade comes with updater 3+. It's updater 3 with a few
extra fixes. Don't run the retular updater 3 on JRun, it doesn't need it.

The latest updater is 6.1 + 6.1 updater. Due to some SQL driver issues
we experienced on a low-traffic server, we still run 6.1 + all the patches.
