Well I am sure that there is a more elegant REGEX solution, but you can always do a FIND and then a LEFT so:
<cfset fisttoat = find(#recipient#, '@')> <cfset firstname = left(#recipient#, #firsttoat#)> I am sure someone will post something more elegant, but that will work.
