So, presumably, because the work that you do writing CF is
non-original, and relies on the power of the ColdFusion server, and is
significantly less complicated than writing the ColdFusion server, you
charge significantly less for your time, right? I mean, thinking about
my own career as a CF developer, the sum total of all the CF software
I've written is almost certainly less sophisticated, less complex, etc
than the CF server itself. So, presumably, I should have made no more
than the cost of CF Enterprise, right?

Long story short: your indignation is misplaced. Nearly all software
is based on other software; maybe not in so obvious a fashion, but I
doubt that the Dreamweaver team wrote everything in assembler.

Well, no, that's exactly the point. That is the ONLY measure for
software value that makes sense. Any other measure is just irrational
and misguided.
