Well, what I'm thinking is to have a specific email address that would get checked by the app via a scheduled task using cfpop. Order number would be in the subject, grab the body of the email and dump it into the order communications table with the timestamp coming from the email.
The point for potential problems is if the wrong order number is put in the subject field. I'm sure there are more, but that's the one that worries me.
