Exchange causes all kinds of problems, it has so many bugs and oddities and
works differently to every other mail server and simple things become so
complex.
We had a lot of problems with our own ticketing system when we switched to
exchange, it didn't take long for me to hate exchange and switch to google
apps, no more problems now :-)
One of the biggest issues was that exchange does not keep the original
recipient address when you send to an alias, it replaces it with the mailbox
name, this totally screws up ticketing systems.
