Its less an issue of being angry than one of preventative medicine. I get
flack when we have a lot of vacation posts to the list. I get flack when
someone posts with a messed up header and stalls the mail server. I get
flack if a message is more than 5 minutes late. I know it sounds like I'm
complaining, but actually I'm not.
I've written a lot of mail processing code to avoid most of the above
mentioned issues. I make it a point to try and solve issues as soon as I see
them. Most of the issues are never seen by the average subscriber and that's
the way it should be. An admin should be invisible.
The post about being banned for a week due to vacation messages was meant
more as a wakeup call than anything else. Lets be totally honest, do I need
the headaches of banning and unbanning people for being careless? No. But in
some extreme cases this is exactly what's needed and a fair warning before
hand would both make people aware of the potential penalty and hopefully
stop them from doing it. If I came off as angry, it was less real anger and
more the style of my post. I'm big on melodrama. :)
