Firstly,
They can't bad mouth you period.. Even if you where the one who trained
those pilots who crashed into the WTC and you sang at work about how proud you
feel.. they couldn't even say a negative word about you....why? Because what
the hell has that got to do with you're performance at work.
Trick is, to get a mate to ring them and ask for a reference. If he/she
trashes you, get your mate to basically go "busted" the next ones going to be
official.
What this does is, makes them thinks twice before they do it again, as
its a bit of phsycological warfare.
Legally? you'd be skating uphill. I had emails of one of my own bosses
doing the same thing, i even complained to the industrial inspector about it
all, and they recommended that i do seek legal council, but catching them
doing it and prooving it will be expensive (sorry its not a matter of small
claims ..ie sometimes you can take scum bags like this to a non-jury court
proceeding where you go before a judge and explain you're case.. ie judge
judy).
It sux and personally, i'd like to just pay some big bouncer dude to knee
cap these bastards but what can you do... (Sadest part is, he still hasn't
learn and still does it to other guys who leave.. its like its a personal
attack on him for you quiting???).
Anyway rambling...
Catch the bastard out, and keep doing it on and off to make sure..
make a compliant with the Industrial Inspector, and if you have emails of him
abusing you in anyway whether it be swearing etc, attach them aswell...
Furthermore, if you worked your butt off, in that you work more then the
standard maximum allowed hours per day, go to the work place health and
safety. This is something alot of IT professionals overlook in that legally
you aren't allowed to work more then a certain amount of hours per day (think
its 12). If you do, they have to give you time off to rebuild you're
sanity.
Scott.
I have a question, or rather yet I would
appreciate some feedback on the following.
I have a serious issue with my previous
employer, the problem is they gave me a bad reference while I can seriously
proof that I performed my duties in a professional manner.
The problem is that the Department manager
never really liked me.
I have no problems with someone not liking me,
that is their business, but in this case it caused me to loose a job, and
possible future jobs as I have now got:
1. A bad reference for a working period of
8 months
2. A job where I only worked 1
week
My question is, does anyone think I should take
this further, i.e. talk to legal aid and get them to rectify this situation,
or should I not bother?
Any feedback is
appreciated.
