Mark CF has always had a problem with ZERO byte emails in the mail spool. CF gets into a loop of some sort and CPU goes to 100%, then it crashes.
CF has no way of just ignoring them so I ended up setting my mail to spool every 2 minutes, then I set up a schedule to get all the mail in the sppol and delete all the ZERO byte emails before it spooled. It helped, but its not fool proof I would have thought by CFMX they would have built it into the spooling process to either ignore or delete ZERO byte files. There was also a 0 byte email in the undel on 2 of 3 the occasions, although removing it, restarting cf & even rebooting didn't fix the problem on any occasion. This morning removing the mail in the spool fixed the problem although all the mail in it looked fine. Also on the other two occasions the server has either fixed itself without the spool being emptied or removing the spool files did not fixed the problem (respectively). I've just dumped the mail I removed from the spool this morning and immediately I'm seeing the restating problem again. Am now trying to find exactly which file is causing it (thankfully there are only a handlful). Will do some searching on 0 byte mail files - I think I've heard of that issue as well.
