Also, I guess if we followed the norm and placed our CFC code under a "com.macromedia..." style architecture we wouldn't be having this problem :)

Initially I was referencing all my CFC's as createObject("component","MySite.model.CFCName") (they all live in the model directory), but I found this broke when I used web services as you describe. So I ended up just using createObject("component","CFCName"). Hope that helps - I don't know how to traverse directories - or whether that would even work.
